Associate Therapist (She/Her)
Often the reason we enter therapy is because we are struggling with a personal experience that we feel other people just won’t understand. Sometimes these struggles may center around our sexuality or gender identity. Other times we might have trouble processing painful parts of our past that could include traumatic experiences or relationship challenges. We might even have a hard time explaining to others just how much anxiety, depression, or other overwhelming thoughts have started to impact various areas of our lives. My goal as a therapist is always to try my best to understand you while having patience, humility, and openness. As we work together, I’ll get better at knowing your way of navigating the world, but I’ll also always be open to critique when I may not get something right. You are the expert on yourself and your life, but I hope that by working together I can help be a great co-pilot on your journey forward. A typical therapy session with me involves us collaborating and reflecting on your experiences while developing tools to build strength and motivation to move towards what’s important to your future.
During my clinical psychology doctorate program at Widener University, I’ve worked with a variety of ages, sexualities, gender identities, races, and neurodiversity. I can easily adapt to a wide range of clientele, but I’ve specialized my clinical expertise around trauma (especially childhood or adult sexual trauma), sexual/gender minorities (BDSM/kink, consensual non-monogamy, LGBTQIA+), and mood challenges (anxiety, panic, depression, bipolar II). My clinical interventions typically are based on acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT). A brief description of ACT is it’s a type of therapeutic style that focuses on identifying what is important to you and tailoring treatment to assist you in reconnecting with important areas of your life that may have faded due to your current difficulties. My approach is also person-centered, so I tend to alter treatment to match your needs and preferences.
If you feel like we would be a good fit together, I encourage you to reach out to me to schedule an appointment. I’d be more than happy to answer any questions you might have about myself or about therapy! I look forward to getting the chance to work with you!
