    My name is Yasenta Newman, and I have over 15 years of experience working with individuals living with mental health and/or substance misuse disorders. I have a passion for helping individuals by creating a humble environment to explore and identify interventions that support their recovery journey. I am a skilled multitasker who juggles multiple roles with contentment. From being a dedicated mother to having a prosperous career, and even finding time for hobbies like yoga and meditation, I make the most of every moment. With a passion for creativity and a love of adventure, I approach life with a positive aura. I embrace all opportunities to learn and grow. With my strong work ethic and contagious energy, I inspire those around me to pursue their goals.

    I work with passion, guiding my clients to effectively strengthen and elevate their vision to recover and meet their goals. I have experience working with children, teenagers, young adults, and adults. I help clients strengthen their awareness in managing their mental health and/or substance misuse symptoms by providing evidence-based approaches to improve symptoms. I foster a strong therapeutic alliance in utilizing person-centered, cognitive behavioral, dialectical behavioral and motivational interviewing techniques.

    My educational background includes a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, masters in counseling psychology, and a doctorate in psychology with a specialization in addiction psychology. I am dedicated to building therapeutic relationships to support diverse individuals in recovery. I have worked in a variety of levels of care and have been passionate about social issues in mental health and substance use disorders.

    Dr. Newman is a Post Doctoral Psychology Resident currently working under the direct supervision of Dr. Christina Wohleber, Licensed Psychologist, to increase her areas of expertise in treatment for complex trauma, mood disorders, and working with the LGBTQ+ population among other skills.
