Psychologist in Training
(She/Her)
My name is Vanessa Tower and I am a doctoral candidate in clinical psychology at Walden University. I received my Master of Science degree in Applied Psychology from Walden University in 2018 and my Master of Social Work degree from The Ohio State University in 2001. I am an Ohio Licensed Independent Social Worker with Supervision Designation. Throughout my professional career, I have worked with children, adolescents, and adults in various settings including child welfare, early childhood development, forensic services (juvenile and adult), and mental/behavioral health. Helping clients who have experienced childhood trauma and other life challenges that impact their physical, mental, emotional, interpersonal, and social well-being has been incredibly fulfilling.
Providing both individual and group treatment and utilizing various strength-based and evidence-based approaches, I believe that people are resilient and that all people can change. My work with clients have been in the areas concerning ADHD, anger and stress management, anxiety, co-occurring disorders, complex trauma, depression, emotional regulation, grief and loss, interpersonal relationships, problematic sexualized behaviors (primarily male adolescents), self-esteem, and substance use disorders.
I help clients practice behaviors and adopt mindsets that promote self-awareness, resilience, goal-setting, and effective decision-making. Ultimately, my clients envision their lives with increased fulfillment, balance, and achievement. They aspire to have clarity in their life direction, stronger personal and professional relationships, and a sense of purpose that aligns with their values and passions. They seek to feel more empowered, capable, and satisfied with their overall well-being and success. I am proud to have helped numerous clients overcome self-doubt and achieve significant milestones in their personal and professional lives. Seeing their growth and success is very rewarding.
If you are seeking support or guidance, know that your desire to improve and grow is admirable. It takes courage to acknowledge areas where you want to make changes or pursue goals.
