Hi! My name is Lauren de Torres (she/her), and I am a Pre-Licensed Counselor. I earned my Master of Science in Education (M.S.Ed) in Counseling and Mental Health Services and my Master of Philosophy in Education (M.Phil.Ed) in Professional Counseling from the University of Pennsylvania. I also hold a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Psychological Sciences from Colgate University, where I was a Division I swimmer.

I view counseling as a collaborative journey– one where you bring your unique experiences, and together, we can explore what might be getting in the way of the life and happiness you want. My goal isn’t to “fix” or “cure,” but to help you gain insight, awareness, and confidence in yourself and your choices.

My approach is person-centered and relational-cultural, meaning I value the genuine connection between therapist and client above all else. I strive to create a space where you feel truly seen, heard, and understood. I recognize how aspects of identity such as race, gender, sexual orientation, and socioeconomic status shape how we experience the world and our relationships. With this awareness, I aim to help clients explore the connections that bring meaning and fulfillment to their lives.

I’m especially passionate about working with individuals who experience anxiety, self-criticism, or performance-related stress, including athletes, perfectionists, and those who identify as “over-thinkers.” Together, we’ll explore the messages you’ve internalized, the tone of your inner voice, and how perfectionism or overthinking may be affecting your well-being. In times of transition or pivotal life moments, I want to help you get out of your own way.

Therapy is an opportunity to make sense of yourself and your experiences, to build stronger relationships, and to develop skills for navigating life’s inevitable complexities. I’m honored to walk alongside each of my clients on this transformative journey of growth, healing, and self-discovery. If any of this resonates with you, I would love to connect and embark on this journey together!

    My therapeutic approaches are:

    • Person-centered
    • Relational-cultural
    • Trauma and culturally informed
    • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
