    Meet Therapy Provider Meredith

Your relationship with your therapist is an important one. To get the results you desire, you need to feel safe and comfortable sharing your most personal details. You want someone you respect, who also respects you, to help guide you on your journey through life.

We understand this at CW Psychological Services in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania. That is why we have asked our newest provider to share personal details about herself. We want to allow you to get to know a bit about her, as she hopes to connect with you shortly.

CW Psychological Services welcomes Pre-Licensed Therapist Meredith Reid to our growing team. Here is more about her:

    therapist profile

What drew you to the therapy profession?

I wanted to be a therapist because I love understanding why people do what they do. I think it started from a desire to make the unpredictable into something knowable and understandable, and then later it evolved into something I could do to help alleviate suffering.

What is your favorite thing about being a therapist?

My favorite thing is building relationships with others that are based on trust. It is a beautiful thing to see how people change when interacting with someone they feel safe with, and I feel grateful whenever I am allowed to be that person.

What makes you unique as a therapist?

I don’t think I can kid myself into thinking that there’s something about me as a therapist I don’t share with another of my colleagues, but have always felt that I could make people feel comfortable very quickly. I can also form connections with those who are very different from me.

How would you describe your therapeutic approach?

I blend many approaches, but draw mostly from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing. I try to provide my clients with different ways of thinking that can help them cope better and provide them with specific skills to use when they are needed. Underlying all of that, the most important thing to me as a provider is building a relationship, building trust, and trying as best as I can to meet my clients where they are.

Everyone needs self-care. How do you practice self-care?

I practice self-care by knowing when I’ve reached my limits and enforcing my boundaries between work and home. I’ve learned that one cannot pour from an empty cup, and for all I tell my clients to create and enforce boundaries, I have to make sure I follow my advice. I fill my free time with things I enjoy, namely video games, fiber arts, and spending time with friends and family. Having a support system is essential, and it’s important to feel connected to a community.

What is one thing that is important for anyone to know as they travel through life?

Every single person you see has a life that is as complex and rich as yours.

    What’s most important to you?

Family and friends – the joy of caring for others and having them care for me in return.
